THE CARRUS THREAT

Group Dynamic
This adventure works best with the following types of characters: A jedi, A bounty hunter, any rebellion spec-ops, a young senatorial or NR liason.

Setting
This adventure takes place within a year followng the Battle of Endor.

The Set Up
The players are contacted by the rebellion for a specific job. Perhaps the rebellion is calling in a favor the players owe them or someone has reffered the players to the rebellion. They are ushered onto a Mon Cal freighter in the Mid Rim territories.

The Pitch
The players are met by a "Commander Tassel". He informs them that he is in charge of vasrious rebellion operations that require "descretion" and that he has a job for them. It seems that a short time before the Battle of Endor, the rebellion was contacted by a Carrus Corporation that operates primarily in the Mid Rim and Outer Rim. The head of the corporation, Volax Carrus, was offering the rebellion financial assistance and weapons in the battle against the Empire.
The Rebellion was very interested, until information came to light that the Carrus Corp., which is a medical supply company was really a front company for a slavery ring that Carrus was running. Upon learning of this the rebellion severed all ties with Carrus Corp.
However, a low ranking rebel officer re-established contact with Carrus, without the knowledge of rebellion high command, and struck a deal with the businessman. When the battle of Endor occurred, Carrus Corp. was responsible for 25% of the weapons used by the ground forces at Endor and for an estimated 7 million credits that had been funneled into he rebellion from various Carrus resources. The officer who set up the deal was killed at Endor, and when his personal belongings were checked, his datapad revealed that he did indeed strike a deal with Carrus and that the rebellion now owed Carrus Corp. an estimated 9 million credits.
Rebellion high command however, did not feel this was just, since the officer was never authorized to make the deal and by way of compensation decided that Carrus was to only receive 4 million credits in return.

Carrus found this unacceptable and threatened the Rebellion for his full payment. The Rebellion has ignored his complaints up till now. Carrus has been responsible at this point for millions of credits in collateral damage and theft and has been responbile for the theft of over 14 Rebellion starships. Carrus has informed the Rebellion that until he receives full payment he will extract what he feels he is owed "in kind".
The Rebellion wants the team to infiltrate Carrus' compound and return him to Rebellion HQ to stand trial for what he has done.

The Info
The Rebellion has information on a former Carrus Corp. employee who now works as a freight hauler on Celanon. The team is to establish contact with him, get the information required to infiltrate the Carrus Corp. Compound, and execute the extraction. The contacts name is "Skrace Tennet", a twi'lek who can usually be found on landing platform 43 or in a bar called "Shooter Jen's" on Celanon.

The Twist
Depending on the level of your players expertise, this twist is optional:
Carrus is NOT involved in slavery. It is a malicious lie put out by Medstar, a competing company. If the players take long enough to question Carrus they will find this out. They must then decide to return to the rebellion without him and argue on his behalf or continue the mission and turn him over to the rebellion.

The Complications
When the characters arrive in the Celanon system, they will be hailed by a Imperial customs cruiser. It seems due to an Imperial crackdown, every ship is being scanned and searched, resulting in a huge delay on Celanon. The Imperials will board the players ship and detain them for a while. This is just to make the players sweat, and also for the Empire to record the ship in question. Eventually the players will be allowed to land on the planet, but be required to pay 3x the normal docking fee.

The Contact
When the characters arrive on planet, they need to make a moderate streetwise roll to find Skrace(who is laying low after stealing a speederbike). When they do, he will inform them that Carrus has moved his base of operations to a Corellian Corvette, and runs his business from there. He will inform the players that he has a plan to get on the ship, and that they must take him along in order to infiltrate the Corvette. Skrace will not be dissuaded, and will insist on going along. When the players agree, Skrace informs them he will meet them back at their ship and they should be able to leave promptly. Skrace arrives some time later at the ship along with several cargo crates he tells them team they will need for the mission.

The Lone Voyager
Skrace and the team will then head to the planet Shatelle in the Outer Rim. Skrace informs the team this is where Carrus' ship is orbiting. He provides the team with a false transponder code for one of the freighters used to deliver foodstuffs to the Corvette. At this point the team must make plans to fake a ship malfunction and find Carrus.

Carrus
Upon finding the CEO, he will be confined to a room with a sealed atmosphere. He informs them he has a rare disease and that he cant leave the confines of the room or else he will die. (This is only partially true, as he can survive for several days outside of the atmosphere). At this point the players may take him, question him, or do what they will. After the players make their decision, Skrace will then attempt to kill Carrus. Should he be stopped, he will inform the team he was seeking revenge for being fired and saw the teams mission as a way to get close to the CEO.

Getting Out
If the players leave without Carrus he will not hinder their progress. If they do leave with him, they will have to deal with the ships security force, made up primarily of droids.

The Wrap Up
The reaction the crew gets from Tassell will depend on the result of the mission. 1) If they return with him alive, Tassell will be pleased with the groups performance, informing high command of their success.
2) If they return without him, Tassell will consider them inept and inform them that rebellion high command will be told of their "inability to follow orders". 3) If they return without him but try to explain he is not at fault(if the GM decides to use the hook presented earlier)...Tassell will react as in #2 but will promise to follow up on the information. 4)If they show up with him dead, Tassell will thank the team for their efforts and dismiss them.
